2 more days until Mardi Gras 2010 in New Orleans

A Bit Better

I came back to work yesterday and today I’m feeling even better. I *hope* I am finally kicking this thing out of my body! Last night I felt a migrane coming on so I took some Excedrin migrane formula, lay down for half an hour and it didn’t come on. Despite being sick we have been really really busy.

I managed to get ALL the Christmas decorations put away, including taking down the tree. I organized everything and got rid of 2 boxes full of stuff I no longer use. My MIL gave us a day bed that she no longer wanted. Connor wanted it for the “video game room”. It’s that odd room off the kitchen and dining room that we never know what to do with. We put a tv in there and hooked up the wii to get it off the living room tv. It’s working out quite well except that all the animals, Trooper and Bingo especially think that the day bed is their own personal bed. I ordered some bedding for it and a doggy blanket to cover it and keep all the pet hair off the nice bedding.

1st King Cake of the seasonWe also enjoyed our first King cake of the year! Mike had to run out to Lowe’s on Sunday morning and he stopped at the bakery and they had a few King Cakes! So he bought one for us. I think it’s pretty cool that tradition is catching on around here. Of course the local King Cake wasn’t as good as an authentic one…they make them a bit different. But we still ate the entire thing. I have ordered two from Randazzo’s for this weekend. One for us and one for ASB. I think I will order two more before the end of January- one for work and one for Connor to take to school.

Finally, I dragged myself out of the house to Target (missed the 90% off Christmas stuff) because we needed a few things. I finally caved and bought the shower curtain and towels that I have been coveting for quite awhile now. I needed a new shower curtain anyway.

I had to take a few days off from exercising when I was sick. But the past two days have been in the mid 60’s and beautiful out so I made myself get up and do an easy 3 mile walk. I need to get in 93 miles this month to stay on target. So far I am up to 17 miles and plan on hitting the gym today. Or do another outside walk if it stays nice out. Have to take advantage of this nice weather while it lasts….which won’t be for long…back to the cold this weekend! A few more days of quiet here at work. Classes resume on Monday..back to the madness! I am not looking forward to the gazillion resumes I will have to look at. ASB meetings start up again on Sunday. We have so much fundraising to do it’s not funny. I’m trying to enjoy this calm time because the next few months are going to be insane!

Lisa,
They better have that shower curtain at our Target. That color perfectly matches the painted stripes in our boy bathroom. I just haven’t found the right shower curtain. How would you describe that color?

Oh no, not sick again. Your poor thing.

I am so in love with that shower curtain. I have a glass door, so it won’t work for me, but I love it. I got some fleur de lis hand towels for Christmas, but I think yours are prettier.

That king cake looks so good. I have been wanting to get a “real” one from New Orleans but I might have to settle for one from Mobile when I go visit my parents. Your towels and shower curtain are LOVELY. You must have a radar that leads you to the beautiful fluer de lys items.

I didn’t see those at my Target! Those are real nice!

Mmmm…king cake. I try not to buy one but I’m not at my old job anymore where someone would always break down and buy one.
